Release Notes
Thank you to everyone playing Stay: Forever Home! We hope you’re enjoying it, and we deeply appreciate all your reviews, feedback, and reports. The team has been reading closely, and we’re thrilled so many of you are spending time with Ember! This update focuses primarily on fixing as many bugs and player grievances as we could, with plenty more improvements to come. We’ve also added some new features and performance tweaks!
New!
- New toy! Flying discs are now available from the far end of the Otherlands, or perhaps beyond.
- New VFX, to bring more life and magic to the world.
- You can now place wall and floor decorations by tossing them where you want them to be – the first of many UI polishes.
- New animations for Ember, and fixes for the old ones.
Improved!
- Performance and visual fidelity upgrades: smoother shadows, higher resolution, better outdoor performance.
- Distance Grab improvements: better handling of distant objects and geometry blockers.
- Controller tracking has been refined for smoother hand motion.
- Improved plant interactions – plants without pots will now die if left on the ground!
- The door orb now requires a small force to activate – allowing better storage options.
Bug Fixes
Oh boy, here we go!
- Planter received from trading was bigger than the mailbox.
- White texture displayed on a plant near mossling statues.
- Object models clipped with item count numbers when placing in bag.
- Pom pom / poppy flowers had LOD issues.
- Ember made a disgust face with her mouth open.
- Big fruit was hard to pop.
- Smooth Locomotion: player could get stuck behind rocks or grass patches.
- Japanese characters were blurry and hard to read.
- Grabbing blue seed from pot could break hand model.
- Fruit taken by Ember while backpack was close could glitch and break.
- LOD issues on beige and grey rocks and near the waterfall.
- Ember paused awkwardly and squinted unexpectedly.
- Screen flashed briefly when Ember pounced on mosslings.
- Tutorial flower wouldn’t return to planter.
- Mailbox items duplicated after switching between MR and VR.
- Difficulties grabbing items from backpack in portal.
- Mailbox door hard to grab and close.
- Items could disappear when distance-grabbed near backpack.
- Severe LOD issues near the cabin’s rock fence.
- Unsupported characters appeared in French.
- Gift couldn’t be grabbed after Thief Mossling encounter.
- Flying toy from trade needed a restart to activate.
- Previously dug treasure spots generated excessive orbs.
- Ember sometimes froze in T-pose instead of digging.
- Outdoor objects could go missing when quitting while spawning.
- Outdoor spawn failures when transitioning outside while paused.
- Cliffside near cabin had major occlusion issues.
- Grabbed objects defaulted to awkward angles.
- “Hours” on Trade Board remained in English across all locales.
- Items on ground misplaced after quitting or switching scenes.
- Ember walked through chest, causing interaction issues.
- Backpack upgrade slots were uneven and hard to use.
- Accessories prioritized lower in distance-grab than other assets.
- Ember got stuck on vine blocker during tutorial.
- Cabin door grab could trigger nearby item grabs instead.
- Lost + Found failed to retrieve player inventory.
- Item taken by thief could become un-interactable post-encounter.
- Ember barked at invisible vines when none were present.
- Tutorial wants persisted for entire first session.
- Seed pickup caused floaty/broken hand behavior.
- Bridge dig spot was unreachable for Ember.
- Wrist inventory audio lingered after closing.
- Pond area movement blockers were inconsistent.
- Planters disappeared when moving between VR and MR.
- Unplaceable trade card blocked mailbox interactions.
- Potato/radish plants reappeared incorrectly after removal.
- Purple smoke/sparkles VFX spawned at incorrect location.
- Crash triggered when clearing thorns.
- Thorn particle effects did not disappear properly.
- Possible to get stuck on tallest hill.
- Ember held spinning disc awkwardly.
- Flying toy jumped erratically if grabbed after flight.
- Ember could become stuck after issuing “Find” command.
- Cabin door + wake-up animation caused Ember to freeze.
- Backpack disappeared when exiting outside with it in hand.
- Two thorns failed to respawn after 12 hours.
- Spinning disc could fall through ground or become ungrabbable.
- Tutorial progress sometimes failed to save.
- Spinning disc and items sank through misaligned colliders.
- Spinning disc interaction broke when removing from backpack.
- Thief mosslings were too aggressive at high forage levels.
- Quitting with door/objects in hand caused duplication.
- Door impact threshold too sensitive.
- Distance grab made seed placement in planter difficult.
- Bag collect sounds were not playing.
- Tradeboard upgrade tab showed unusable trades (all required pear).
